Defensive driving is one of the smartest ways to make sure you stay safe while you’re out on the road. You never know what other drivers could be thinking or doing while they’re behind the wheel. Are they texting or eating something? Trying their hardest not to doze off? Consider equipping your truck with push bars this summer to ensure you have as much protection as possible.
The push bars you attach to your vehicle could make a tremendous difference. If you were to bump into another car, the push bars would help minimize the impact of such a situation. They disperse the pressure through rubber-coated vertical bars. It’s easy to attach these push bars to your truck, snapping right onto the front. You might often see them referred to as center grille guards, but these are not always the same item.
Grille guards, or full grille guards, are another option for you to consider. They are also called brush guards, and they protect your vehicle’s front. The steel frames on these guards are designed to be excellent shock absorbers. One of the best things about the grille guards, though, is how they can slow you down. In any accident scenario, the faster you are going, the more damage you can expect. When you go more slowly, the damage will most likely not be as severe. Whether you want push bars or grille guards, you’re better off choosing one or the other instead of leaving your truck almost completely unprotected.
Luckily, you’re not out of choices just yet. If neither of the above upgrades appeals to you, you can use bull bars instead. Bull bars protect both the front and the undercarriage of your vehicle. They are stronger and more resilient than both push bars and grille guards. Many different manufacturers offer bull bars, too, so they should be easy to find.
Are you worried about anything happening to the back of your ride? A fourth option is to use bumper guards that can be added to both your front fenders and back bumpers. That way, even if someone takes too wide a turn while parallel parking, your truck should still be safe.
