Do you use your truck for work? Or are you just handy and need your tools around at all times? Whatever your reason, installing a toolbox in your truck bed is a great way to ensure that your tools are never far away, while also adding to the value of your pickup. Truck tool boxes can also be useful for storage, saving space and keeping loads in a compact place while driving.
Once you have purchased your new toolbox, all you need to do is mount it. This article from eHow.com explains how…
1. Measure the dimensions of the tool box and the truck bed to make sure that the tool box will fit appropriately. Place adhesive protective tape on the rails (only where the tool box will rest).
2. Place the tool box in the bed of the truck and open the lid to make sure that it opens unimpeded. Mark where holes will be drilled into the truck bed and make sure that they align with the tool box. Leave the lid open and drill the holes through the tool box into the bed. Holes might have to be drilled into the rails of the truck, depending on the design of the tool box.
3. Place the bolts through the newly drilled holes. Lock the bolts in place by tightening them with lock washers and nuts
